This second batch pays tribute to Strathearn’s singular flavour profile and the meticulous craftsmanship behind its rich, indulgent single malt. Crafted from the same rigorous cask selection as Batch 01 — ex-Bourbon, Virgin Oak, and ex-Sherry — it stands apart this time with a greater influence from Bourbon casks and a more subtle touch of Virgin Oak. The result: an even silkier whisky, strikingly fresh and perfectly balanced. A more refined expression, where Strathearn’s natural elegance shines through — the mark of a deepening mastery of its unique character. Batch 02 is the result of a precise vatting of 31 casks, carefully selected from both the distillery’s legacy stocks and those laid down since its acquisition in 2019 by renowned independent bottler Douglas Laing. Tucked away in the heart of Highland Perthshire — a region steeped in whisky heritage — Strathearn embraces a rare, resolutely artisanal approach. Since 2013, it has produced its single malt using an exceptional ingredient: Maris Otter Extra Pale malted barley. This is hand-mashed in one of the country’s last manually operated mash tuns, then fermented slowly for 144 hours.
